Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Enjoy...

Rise Hall Supplier Shoot

I’m a little bit out of sync with this blog post, as this shoot actually happened back in March! Still, I thought you might like to see a few pictures from the day.

I expect the majority of readers will know what/where Rise Hall is, as it was the subject of a popular C4 television show called ‘Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare’, featuring Sarah Beeny and husband Graham Swift. I’ll spare you the boring back-story, but Kelly and I are now recommended suppliers in the official wedding brochure for Rise (much to our delight!). Because the venue is so new to the wedding industry all the suppliers being listed in the brochure decided to arrange a photoshoot day at the venue – the purpose of which was to give everyone some quality images of their product/service actually at Rise Hall itself.

So, off we went at stupid o’clock in the morning one weekday to meet all the other vendors. This was the first time any of us had attempted something like this, so I hesitate to use the word ‘organised’ anywhere in this post – instead it was a bit of a free-for-all, with suppliers pulling the photographers (5 or 6 in total) aside to get shots of their dress, flowers, cakes, instruments, etc. That said, it was still a fun day and ended with Kelly and I – and fellow snapper Jon Swainson – stood in a pitch black field attempting to capture fireworks over the hall. Talk about a learning experience!

Anyway, below are some of my favourites from the shoot. Many thanks to fellow suppliers such as Deborah Moore Dresses, The Floral Lounge, Andrea Bambridge Wedding Gowns, Victoria Farr Make Up Artist, Ella D Bridal Wear , Sweet Occasion and The Classic Way Classic Cars.

Here we have the lovely Ashley Tyrrell working her make-up magic on one of the models.

Introducing professional singer Sophie Urquhart

Well, after a long day (including a brief migrane) we collapsed back at home at around 10pm having got a set of great photos and met some lovely people to boot! I’d love to something like this again, so if any suppliers/venues want to get in touch you know where I am!

Anyone?
