Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Enjoy...

Red House Museum Shoot

Red House Museum is a beautiful historic house and museum in Gomersal, West Yorkshire. Red House was built by William Taylor in 1660, and the Taylor family owned it until 1920. The house had a number of famous visitors but the most well-known was Charlotte Brontë who immortalised the family and the house in her novel Shirley.

Recently, Kirklees Council approached us to undertake a Bridal Shoot at Red House as they are about to Licence the venue for wedding ceremonies and wanted some images for marketing purposes. Obviously, we said yes and immediately went about gathering a team of amazing people to make the shoot happen.

We decided, because of the Brontë connections that we would go with a themed shoot and the theme was ‘Modern Victoriana’. So, after a few bouts of craziness with models having to drop out etc, we got everyone together and ventured out on a crisp Autumn morning. Here are a few favourites from the shoot…

Here we have the lovely Jo Bilham putting together the first of TWO looks that her and Kizzy had decided on. When you book these guys you definitely get the most for your money!

and here is the above named Kizzy Edkins working her first lot of magic on our model Victoria Mawson.

Introducing Claire from Just Darling Cakes who actually managed to take time out of her schedule to stay with us for a bit on the day. We were all happy as she’d made us all cake for lunch.

Fun with hairspray!

The first of two gorgeous hair accessories kindly donated to the shoot by Jane from HF Couture.

Here are our bride and groom… Victoria Mawson and Richard Fesil Bolton. Pete really liked these ‘evil eye’ windows on the side of the barn. This venue is going to be a great one for wedding photography as you have a mixture of modern and classical backdrops for your images – we loved it!

This venue has loads of lovely ‘Secret Garden’ areas where you can get some really intimate images of the bride and groom. Can’t wait to shoot a wedding there in Springtime.

Everyone who knows us knows that Pete and I love a good wall and this one is no exception.

The afternoon tea table that Claire had put on for the shoot. We were all in a hurry to get this photo over and done with so that we could eat all the goodies. We found out that Claire possibly makes the best Jammy Dodgers in the world!

And these vanilla cupcakes were yummy too.

If anyone is following Peter Boyd Photography on facebook then you may have heard about this butterfly cameo. Unbeknownst (great word) to us both, Claire and I had both managed to source exactly the same butterfly cameo for the shoot. Claire for her amazing cake and me for a necklace. Weird…

This lovely brooch bouquet was offered to us by Kate from Katherine Maye Venue Decor.

and this was the second hair accessory from HF Couture. Stunning!

The main entrance hall of Red House looking brilliant with its new curtains and some beautiful floral arrangements from Fiona at Firenza Floral Design.
