Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Enjoy...

Lucy & Ollie’s Engagement Shoot at Skipton Castle Woods

Second up on the blog today is the lovely Engagement Shoot of Lucy and Ollie at Skipton Woods. Lucy and Ollie are getting married in June at St Michael’s Church in their home village of Kirkby Malham and then they’re off to their family’s field for some fun in PapaKata tents. It’s going to be awesome! However, for their Engagement Shoot they chose Skipton Woods as it was somewhere that they love that was a bit closer to us (thanks guys).

So, one lovely evening we all met up at a pub (always good), went through the details of the wedding and then, after a few drinks for courage, we took them for a little stroll with two dogs and a camera. We did get some funny looks from other dog walkers who must have been wondering why we were photographing two people out on their quiet dog walk but Lucy and Ollie shrugged it off like pros and got straight into it. As with most of our couples they started off by saying that they thought it was going to be really weird and that they never look good in photos etc etc but, by the end of it, they said they actually had a good time and it wasn’t as scary as they thought. Which is EXACTLY why we do the Engagement Shoot!

Anyway, I’m going to shut up now and let you look at the results…

Introducing Ella the dog… She’s ace and actually managed to put up with our dog Charlie – which in our book is amazing.

Lucy and I (this is Kelly by the way) noticed all the wild garlic in Skipton Woods and were wondering what you can do with it. Weirdly enough, a couple of days later, I was at a Therapeutic Gardening event for work and they were making wild garlic pesto. It was gorgeous. I’ll get you the recipe Lucy and we can go back to the woods and forage!

Who’d have thought that wild garlic could look so romantic!

During the last photo this guy swooped in and landed right next to us – Pete had to snap him.

We had a lovely evening stroll out with Lucy and Ollie (and wished we’d had time to stay for a quick drink after) 🙂 . See you soon guys.
