Last weekend we headed over to Cave Castle to meet Kate & Simon for their Engagement shoot. The couple are getting married at the end of July and are having their reception at Cave Castle, so we decided it’d be a good opportunity to have a walk around together and find the best photo spots.
At least that was the plan.
As always, Kelly and I turned up early to speak to the venue staff and do a bit of recon ourselves. The sky had looked threatening for most of our drive over, but (to our relief) the rain stayed at bay when we arrived. So, our initial tasks completed, we sat and prepared for Kate and Simon to arrive…

As soon as Kate and Simon arrived the heavens opened. Fortunately, we have an ample supply of white umbrellas – we are British photographers after all!
The ducks showed no fear as I was crouched on the grass. I’m not sure I felt entirely safe…
This shot gives you some idea of the conditions we were working with…
In this shot I’d accidentally caught the flash in the background. I rather like the ‘flare’ effect it produces. It also makes the weather look less dismal than it really was!
Despite getting a bit soggy we had a lovely time with Kate & Simon and can’t wait for their wedding in July.
