Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Jo & Luke – Engagement Shoot

Hello, it’s Kelly again. Thought I’d make myself useful and write a couple more blogs. Also, maybe because the sun is shining at last, I’m in a romantic mood – which seems very fitting.

Over the weekend, whilst entertaining the in-laws, we managed to fit in a Pre-Wedding Shoot or two. The first being at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with the brilliant Jo and Luke…

We’ve started to do Mini Interviews with our Brides to find out more about them, the wedding and other things. This is so that we can get to know our couples more and also because I’m plain nosey!

Anyway, we found out that they chose the Yorkshire Sculpture Park as their venue not only because it’s a great venue but also because it was the ‘accidental’ location of their second date. They were supposed to be going to Pugneys but Jo took a wrong turn! Probably for the best as I’m pretty sure you can’t get married at Pugneys.

So, after we’d finished with all the essential paperwork and final details, we took a stroll around the route we’d take on the day. We find that this is an essential time for getting the couple used to being ‘papped’ and makes the wedding day so much easier as we all know what’s going to happen. Maybe it’s my theatre background coming through but I like to think of it as the dress rehearsal without the dress. Anyway, Jo and Luke started off a bit nervous – like most couples…

But soon they were relaxed and posing like pros…

Most people who know me will know that I’m not normally gushy. But this next picture brings out the romantic in me.

Love it. It also prompts me to tell you how romantic our Groom to be is (sorry Luke). Jo is a lover of sweets and so it was no surprise when Luke bought her a bag of Pick and Mix whilst they were on a weekend away in Liverpool. However, Jo was upset to find there were no Haribo rings (can you see where this is going?). Anyway, later that day, whilst they were taking a midnight stroll down the Albert Docks, Luke produced the Haribo ring that he had squirreled away in his pocket and popped the question. Now, how can a girl say no to that? Although, Pete and I are curious as to whether Jo was able to resist the temptation to eat her engagement ring!

Pete and I love a good wall and the ones at the sculpture park are especially nice.

We also love a good tree and found that Luke was also a fan.

Being British wedding photographers we have quite a large stock of umbrellas that we take everywhere with us. However, for some unknown reason it decided NOT to rain – which threw us all. Jo and Luke were very confused! Let’s hope it’s just as crazy on their wedding day.

We ALL loved this tree.

We had a really lovely day with Jo and Luke and can’t wait for the wedding day. It’s going to be fantastic by the sounds of it with lots of personal touches that a photographer loves.
