Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Enjoy...

Huddersfield Market Wedding Shoot

A fortnight ago Kelly and I embarked upon a unique wedding-themed photoshoot in Huddersfield town center. The concept was something we hadn’t seen elsewhere, so we were keen to to get the shoot done as soon as possible. Huddersfield has a beautiful Victorian market and it was here that we wanted to take our ‘Bride & Groom’. So we spoke to Kirklees Council and they agreed to let us do the shoot there.

We’ve had trouble before finding good hair and make-up artists to collaborate with so Kelly contacted Kirklees College to see if any students would be interested in taking part. Almost immediately we had a response from a course tutor, Nicola Scarfe, who expressed great interest. So much so, in fact, that she ran an in-house competition for students on both hair and make-up courses – the winners being given the chance to work on our photoshoot!

Everything seemed to have come together nicely on the day. The hair and make-up students, Ebony and Lyndsay, arrived with course tutor Nicola in time to set everything up. Soon after the male model, Neil, arrived in good time as promised (from Nottingham, no less!). Unfortunately, our female model didn’t turn up. We got a phone-call saying that she couldn’t make it. Fortunately, Lyndsay suggested contacting a friend of hers, Lisa, to fill in which was a great idea because she made a perfect bride for our groom

Once everyone was ready and dressed we left for the market. It was a freezing cold day and I take my hat off to Lisa who was a star walking around in a wedding dress in the cold but still managing to look great. Anyway, here are some of my favourite shots from the day…

We also wanted to get some more natural wedding shots at the nearby St. Peter’s Church. Although, I couldn’t resist snapping Lisa with her dress hiked up and her boots on display!…

I just want to say a great big thank you to everyone involved. Even though the day didn’t go exactly to plan everyone went with the flow and got us some amazing shots. We hope to work with you all again.
