Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

Enjoy...

Anne & Paul – An Irish Wedding (21st August 2010)

On one summers weekend in August (the day before my birthday, as it happens!) I was fortunate enough to venture on my very first trip to Ireland to photograph Anne & Paul’s special day.

Typically the weather kept us guessing at first, but then transformed into beautiful blue skies and white fluffy clouds for most of the day. As is often the case with Irish weddings, the festivities continued well into the wee small hours (6am by all accounts!) and here is a small selection of the images I captured during the day…

Tip: Press F11 for a full-screen view

I spent the morning with the girls (and the father of the bride!).

Anne is lucky to be tall enough to get away with flat shoes, so these were an ideal (and infinitely more comfortable) solution for the long day ahead!

The dress…

Dress and jewelry finally come together…

Anne’s parents had surprised her with a horse & carriage to whisk her away to the church – so I couldn’t resist a quick bouquet shot on the seat of the carriage!

The bouquets again in more detail…

While I spent the morning documenting Anne’s preparations Kelly accompanied the boys getting ready. Not to be out-done, Paul had arranged comfortable footwear of his own…

When in Ireland how else does one calm those pre-wedding nerves?

I like the ‘gangster’ feel of this shot – emphasised perfectly by the expressions on the faces of Paul and Jim.

Husband & Wife leave the church.

Who says group shots have to be boring…

… and then the lads have a go!

Before the wedding breakfast I had time to take Anne and Paul into a field behind the reception venue for a couple of relaxed shots…

The venue had a kids play area and they couldn’t resist…

During the evenings festivities I’d set up a ‘Photobooth’ in the corner of the room. The concept is simple; put on fancy dress and act the fool!

It was an absolute success, with guests lining up to be silly in front of the camera…

Even the happy couple got involved…

I had a wonderful time photographing the wedding and wish Anne & Paul all the best in their married life.
