Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

A Christmas Wedding at The Churchill Hotel York

Nestled nicely between Christmas and New Year was Jessica and Mark’s fantastic winter wedding at The Churchill Hotel in York. The Churchill is a really gorgeous boutique hotel right near the centre of York with some of the most helpful staff we have come across… and great food!

As usual, we turned up nice and early to capture the guys and girls getting ready. Well, saying that, we actually turned up early to capture the girls getting ready and Kelly popped off to the guys later once they had woken up. Anyway, here are a few of our favourites from the day…

If you are going to wear a onesie it just has to be a cow onesie and you have to wear zebra socks with it. It’s a rule!

The absolutely stunning dress that Jessica found at Elizabeth of York.

And the gorgeous shoes. Personally I think this bedside table was made for shoe-shots!

Here is the woman of the day herself getting a gorgeously intricate hairstyle done by Sam Batchelor from Crowning Glory.

Finishing touches…

All ready to go and looking stunning!

Proud Dad.

Meanwhile, somewhat later that morning, Kelly made her way over to the lads…

Where Mark was impressing everyone with his multi-tasking skills! He was busy putting away the Christmas decorations AND watching football. Take note jessica – you’ve got a good one there.

And this book will help Jessica be just as good a wife to Mark.

Although she’s made a good start because she bought this engraved pen and cufflinks for her Husband-to-Be as a wedding gift.

Mark making sure that he’s synchronised his watch.

Just so absolutely all of Mark’s friends and family know – he absolutely loves port and whiskey! Although it makes him make a funny face when he drinks it.

Patiently waiting…

Here comes the bride.

As is sometimes the case with good ol’ British weather it was raining all morning so we decided it was best not to take everybody out onto the front lawn for them to sink into the mud! So we did the group shots inside in after the fantastic staff at Churchills cleared away the ceremony chairs in double-quick time. Here are the boys…

And the girls…

Churchill’s were so easy-going they even let everyone throw confetti inside!

Jessica and Mark had decided to get a magician to entertain their guests while they were waiting to go into the wedding breakfast so they booked Will Gray Magician. Will decided that because the Bride and Groom usually never get to see the magician at their own wedding he would give them a little show before he left. I like that the woman in the portrait behind looks like she’s trying to sneak a peek as well.

Because it was raining a bit during the alotted couple shot time we took Jessica and Mark to a couple of quiet places around the hotel. This little corner was actually just outside the toilets!

Later on, after dinner, the weather actually cleared up a bit so we went out to take some more portrait shots outside.

Back inside the kids were having a great time on the dance floor.

Then the happy couple took to the dance floor.

Then it was the turn of all the girls to show their moves.

Meanwhile, over the other end of the room, Jessica and Mark had ordered our amazing PhotoBooth to entertain the guests. I think these guys were very entertained!

Jessica and Mark both told us that, as much as they were really looking forward to the wedding day, they were possibly looking forward to the Honeymoon a little more. And who would blame them seeing as they’re spending two amazing weeks in Bangkok, Siam Reap and then Phuket – 5 star all the way! Lucky them.

We had an absolutely amazing day with Jessica and Mark. Even the rain couldn’t dampen anybody’s spirits. We hope you are having a great time on your Honeymoon. Kelly & Pete.
