Peter Boyd Photo Blog bio picture

Hello and welcome

I'm a photographer based in Yorkshire who specialises in wedding,
portrait and headshot photography. I also undertake commercial
commissions, including interior photography, theatre productions and
event coverage.

I am married to Kelly, my long suffering wife, and we live in Huddersfield with our cat, Simon.

I've always had a passion for photography, from watching my grandad
repair old cameras in his spare room to looking through the press
photography of my godfather.

I endeavour to create detailed, stunning and memorable images and my mantra is simple:- there's beauty in everything!

So, sit back with a cuppa and have a browse through my blog. Comments
are always welcome, so don't be shy (Although I will delete anything
that is abusive or makes fun of my hair!)

2011 Wedding Highlights

As promised, we’ve put together a few highlights from our wedding photography in 2011. It’s taken us a while because we had so many amazing weddings last year and, unfortunately, we couldn’t include everthing we wanted to. Anyway, we hope you like these images as much as we do and, if so, please feel free to leave a comment or click the facebook ‘like’ button.

Here goes!…

Definitely the most unique wedding vehicle last year and possibly ever!

Kelly: “I thought this little detail scene summed up the end of a countryside wedding perfectly.”

Pete: “I happened to turn around during the reception and saw this hat on the coat stand. I loved the graphic lines of the stand topped with curves of the hat.”

This image seems to reflect every bride and groom standing at the alter. For us it invoked the beauty and tradition of the day and the nervous anticipation of the couple.

The My Little Ponies on this cake were custom-designed by the bride and groom, made to order in America and shipped over especially for the day. How cool is that?

Pete: “This certainly qualified as one of the more impressive ceremony rooms that I’ve photographed!”

Pete: “I love the fact that everyone looks so happy in this photograph – it’s exactly how the day should be.”

Kelly: “Pete tells me that this photo is very ‘Martin Parr’. To show my ignorance I wasn’t completely sure who he meant, but I still love this image.”

We’ve never photographed a banjo-playing vicar before…

Little boys love trains. Fact.

These guys were a best-man double act and were great entertainment. Who says men never show their emotions, eh?

And the award for most passionate dancing goes to…

Kelly: “This was the best man’s way of proving to me that he had the rings.”

The best man (also the groom’s father) had a very interesting story to tell, which invloved bananas. We can’t go into details, but we think you get the idea.

Kelly: “This shot always make me laugh out loud. When taking this portrait shot of the best man I didn’t even realise until afterwards that the owl was clearly plotting his swift demise… I hope he’s OK.”

The bride at this wedding was a trained dancer – so the first dance was a carefully choreographed masterpeice, which towards the end included an impressive handstand from the groom!

Pete: “During the couple shots at this wedding we were stopped and given an impromptu performance from a passing choir. Sometimes the simplest gifts are the most memorable.”

Whilst passing this gaggle of teens I think we were all expecting some form of abuse. Happily we were proved wrong when they all offered their congratulations and complimented the bride on her dress.

These next few all speak for themselves – couples happy and in love.

We’ve been to some amazing weddings in 2011 and are now looking forward to 2012 being every bit as enjoyable. Thank you to all last year’s brides and grooms for making our 2011 so special and our job so easy!
